Our Story
Four pebbles. Four qualities. One complete you.
Every name carries a story. Ours begins with four small stones held in the palm of a child — and a teaching from the Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh that reminds us we already carry everything we need.
Four Pebbles Yoga was born from a deep belief that yoga is not about achieving a perfect pose. It's about coming home to yourself — again and again, on the mat and off it.
The pebble meditation
In his pebble meditation, Thich Nhat Hanh invites us to hold four pebbles, one at a time, and breathe into the quality each one represents. Traditionally practiced with children, this meditation is disarmingly simple — and profoundly wise. As you hold each pebble, you recognise that quality alive within you: not as something to seek, but as something to remember.
"You are like a flower. You are fresh. You are beautiful. You are stable. You are solid as a mountain. You are calm, still water. You are free as space itself."
Freshness
Like a flower in bloom — beauty & renewal
Stability
Like a mountain — grounded & strong
Stillness
Like still water — calm & reflective
Space
Like open sky — free & expansive
Why this became our foundation
We return to this practice because it reflects exactly what we want our yoga community to feel. When you walk into a Four Pebbles class — whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner — we want you to leave feeling more alive, more grounded, more at ease, and a little more free.
These aren't abstract ideals. They are qualities your body knows. Your breath knows. They arise when we slow down, breathe deeply, and let movement become medicine.
That's what Four Pebbles Yoga is here to offer: a practice rooted in mindful movement, inspired by the wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh's mindfulness tradition, and dedicated to helping you reconnect with what you already carry within you.
Four pebbles. Four qualities that live inside you — always. We're just here to help you remember.
